Good Morning God, Pray without creasing

Good Morning God!

1 Thessalonians 5:17  pray without ceasing,   :

With feet still hanging over the side of the bed, take a deep breath and say; “Good morning God.” It is a great way to start the day.  Many of us feel rushed in the morning, and the first thing on our minds after the disturbing buzzing noise of the alarm clock is the, to do list.  Then coffee, or vise versa.  If you are already a happy early morning riser and can jump out of bed early and carve out time to read your bible or exercise, I am impressed.   My bible study comes later after work.
Taking that first moment in the morning to start the day off right, by opening in prayer helped me.  It does not have to be a fancy worded prayer.  For me, I started simple. Some days it was just “Good morning God.”   Some days I needed to add, “help me with this day.” Other mornings it was a more thankful, and grateful prayer.   Specially on bright sunny  mornings,  I enjoy saying “ Thank you God, that is a beautiful morning.” The real point here is the mind set of opening that line of communication with the Lord.

On a normal busy morning, after the lunches are made, and kids are off to school.  I’m out the door and on my way to work, this is another moment to pray again.  A regular routine started as I back out of the garage; I started saying, “Hello Lord, please protect me as I drive.”  Soon after that, I  added prayer request for my family and praise for what we were going through.   This morning car prayer changed a little bit, when I started praying for one difficult co-worker.  I was reminded by someone that ‘you see what you are looking for.’ With that in mind I started praying that God would help me to see the good and this person.  The daily morning  reminder to look for the good things, did help me to let go of the old patterns.   Over the course of a few months the relationship improved.

These on going conversations with God are some of the ways I pray without ceasing.  I do hope you will try it too, if you don’t already pray this way.  Try to wake up every morning and say “Good Morning God.” His word is filled with many verses about the morning.   I started researching it, that can be for a later post.

Here is one:

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NKJV)

Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
